What Working With Us Actually Looks Like
So, you did the consultation, you reviewed the retainer, you signed. But what happens afterwards? What is it like working with us? What is it like taking your case from beginning to end?
Every immigration firm does it differently, and I want to walk you through that entire process right here.
A Team-Based Approach
We have a strong team-based approach when tackling every single case. There’s going to be an account manager, and this person is going to be the soul of the case.
When you’re working with the account managers, they’re going to assemble a team for you. There’s going to be paralegals, legal secretaries, and law clerks. When you contact us, there’s a lot of people who can help and respond.
That by itself is probably the most important thing to de-stress. A lot of the time when people are stressed, they’re asking, “What can I do?” We try to help convert that negative energy into actionable items.
You’re stressed in the middle of the night. What can I do? Well, here’s your file. Take a look at it. Review it. Prepare for the interview.
Our Goal: Build the Best Case Possible
Our goal is to build the best case that we can so that you can sleep better at night, so we can sleep better at night.
There are too many variables that we cannot control. So when we know there’s an argument, we look at your facts, we try to build it up as best as possible, and we file it within the resources and timeline that’s available. That’s our philosophy.
Because of that, you are very much core to how successful this case is. We believe clients are central to these cases. It’s their story. It’s their objective. It’s their mission. It’s their life.
How We Work With You
We do our best and we share with the client. Give us feedback. How do you make it better? What do you like?
Many of the clients we work with are experts within their own domain. So when we’re building your case, you send us the documents, we prepare it, we write everything, our strategy is clear, we share it with you, you do a final review, we do strategy sessions to improve it. Once you are happy, once we are happy, once a timeline is met, we file.
Behind the Scenes
Here’s a little look behind the curtain. After you send us a document, the law clerks, paralegals, and legal secretaries collect everything, organize everything, complete the first draft, the second draft. The account manager reviews it. We get strategy input from the attorneys and make sure it is solid before we send it over to you.
After you review it, there’s a separate mailing department that checks everything to make sure USCIS will accept it, just to ensure your case is filed correctly.
After You File
Once you file, you wait for USCIS to respond. We are your attorney on file for the entire duration of the case, up until there is a final result.
That includes requests for evidence, notices of intent to deny, interviews, and interview prep. We are responsible for all of that.
If anything changes, if policy shifts, if you’re worried or stressed, we are on standby. Feel free to send us an email. Our team doesn’t disassemble after we file. We are there to service you until the end.
Hire As Needed
Our entire philosophy, from consultations to case management, is so that you hire as needed.
Request for evidence? Hire as needed. Interview prep? Hire as needed. Already done most of your case and just need help with one thing? Just do the consultation. Hire as needed.
What Clients Appreciate Most
The thing that clients appreciate the most is the professionalism. They trust us to get the job done. They see us working toward that goal, the transparency, the team, and ultimately the results.
We set up our entire firm so that we can have the highest approval rate possible. So many clients have come back afterwards and said this was one of the most challenging but rewarding and life-altering experiences of their lives, for the better.
They learned how to navigate this system, and everything that came after felt easier. They appreciated the teamwork, the advice, and the experience.
As stressful as it is, they look back on it with a really fond memory.
I hope you get that experience too.
What is Included in a Legal Consultation
Full Video Transcript
Hi, my name is Joseph, and I’m the managing partner here at Tsang & Associates. In this video, I want to walk you through everything you can expect when you do a consultation with us. We do things a little bit differently, and we’ve done a lot of these. This is the perfect consultation that we can come up with.
For most consultations, it’s broken up into two parts. In the first part, we focus on exactly what the client’s core questions are. Sometimes it’s strategy-based, like “What is the best way for me to stay in the United States legally?” or “What are all the Visa options?” or “What is the best option for me?” That’s where we strategize and really figure out what all the options are to get you to your goal.
Sometimes it’s very case-specific, such as “I have this case, I got a denial, how can I overturn it?” or “How can I do a motion to reopen?” or “What is a checklist for me to succeed?” Whatever your question is, we spend the first half tackling that problem. And don’t worry if you don’t know what questions to ask. We can ask the questions for you. We’ve handled many of these case types, so when we see your case, we can assume what you might be concerned about: “Is that right? Is this what other clients have asked?”
Again, these consultations are for you. We’re here to help you understand your situation as best as possible.
Now, for part two of the consultation, we focus on the timeline and the process: What do you need to do? When do you need to do it? What does the next six months look like? What do the next five years look like? Immigration cases can take a long time, and there are a lot of factors that you need to take into consideration in order to plan. We’ll walk you through the entire process and timeline.
By the end of your consultation, you should have a firm grasp of your exact case, what you need to do, and our recommendations. You should have a clear idea of what you need to do and the timeline. And don’t worry if you’re going to forget, because everything should be recorded. We give you permission to record these sessions. We know it’s complicated stuff. There’s Plan A, Plan B, Plan C; there are all sorts of fees, so many government agencies, and all sorts of things that you need to do. Don’t worry about jotting everything down. The most important thing is for you to understand, to receive, to absorb — and that is our goal: to help you.
After all of this, if we’re able to take on the case, if we have the capability, we’ll prepare a blueprint, a retainer, of what our fees are, what the government fees are, and what the payment plan is for you to reference, shop around, or compare. But that’s not the goal of these strategy consultation sessions. We’re not here to do another sales call. We’re here to teach you, to empower you. And if you want to hire us, great. If you’re able to take our advice and directly succeed on your own, we’re all the happier for you.
We believe in the power of these strategy sessions so much that we organize our entire company around them. We prioritize the speed of these consultations so you can book appointments extremely fast because we know these are time-sensitive. You need an immediate answer, but nobody’s responding to your call. We understand the legal landscape, and we know this is critically important. That’s why we want to make ourselves and our team available to answer any pertinent questions. Whether you’re working in the HR department, helping a family member, or worried about yourself, we try to provide a lot of language resources, videos, and tutorials on how to solve every single one of these issues.
I know these videos are not enough because every situation is unique, and your circumstances might not be the same as somebody else’s. That’s why the team members here at Tsang & Associates dedicate a portion of their time to helping different people during these consultation calls.
In short, you don’t need to do anything to prepare for the interview. Some people like to prepare a lot of questions and share them beforehand. If that helps you, great. If you don’t want to do that because it’ll burden you, don’t worry about it.
Thank you for watching, and on behalf of everyone here at Tsang & Associates, we look forward to talking with you soon. Take care. Bye-bye

Legal Consultation Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from this legal consultation?
We’ll walk you through the different ways to reach your goal and let you know if we can take your case. Whether you want to handle some parts yourself to save money or want us to handle everything, we’ll explain the process, timeline, and costs, so you can sit back, relax, and feel good about your next steps. And don’t worry, we promise to keep things straightforward and easy to understand!
Who will I be speaking with?
Your consultation will be conducted with an attorney who specializes in your case category. If you’d prefer to speak with a case manager you’ve worked with in the past, you can always contact them directly.
Can anyone else attend the consultation?
Absolutely! Feel free to bring a friend, a family member, or even your whole family. We’re here to make you feel comfortable and at ease during your legal consultation, so whoever helps you feel supported is welcome to join.
What if I want you to review all my documents before the consultation?
For most clients, a standard consultation is more than enough. However, if your case involves detailed document review—such as EB-1A or Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) cases—an additional $250 fee allows us to spend an extra hour reviewing your documents before the consultation. But don’t worry, for most cases, this extra step isn’t necessary.
If you would like us to review case documents before your appointment, all you need to do is respond to the consultation confirmation email you receive after scheduling your consultation with the below:
I would like an attorney to spend 1h to review these documents before the consultation. Please send me the $250 additional payment link. Please let me know if that can be arranged.
Attach the documents you’d like to have reviewed. We will confirm this review can be added to our schedule and send over the payment link and once you’ve submitted your pre-consultation document review will be confirmed.
What if I can't find a time slot soon enough for me?
If you need a consultation ASAP, please book the earliest available slot and then call us at (562) 924 – 1981. We’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule by finding an experienced team member who can address your questions as quickly as possible.
How can I reschedule my legal consultation?
We know life can get hectic, so you can reschedule your consultation at any time. Just use the rescheduling option at the bottom of your confirmation email. It’s quick and easy!
What if I don't have an American debit or credit card to pay?
Please call us at (562) 924 – 1981 for alternative payment methods.
Why can't you give an exact price to handle my case before the consultation?
While we list our legal fees on each of our service pages on our website, the exact cost for your case depends on the details we discuss during your legal consultation. Factors like filing with dependents or needing help with a business plan can affect the final price. This personalized approach ensures you only pay for the services you need.
What happens after the consultation?
We’ll send over a recording of the session, and if we can take on your case, we’ll send you a retainer with the quote and strategy outlined during the consultation. We’re happy to go over any questions you have about the retainer, and once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll start working on your case.
Why do you record the consultation?
We record our consultations so you can easily reference the strategies and information we discuss without having to worry about taking notes during the session. Don’t worry, everything said is strictly confidential.
What if I need more time than the allocated hour?
Most of the time we can answer all your questions in under an hour, but if more time is needed we can always schedule additional time to make sure we address everything.
Do you offer legal consultations in languages other than English?
Yes, in addition to legal consultations in English we also offer legal consultations in Spanish, Chinese, and Korean. Please select the language you prefer when booking your consultation.
What's your refund policy?
FAQ: What’s your refund policy?
We offer partial refunds for cancellations made before the day of the consultation. The refund amount will be issued minus the payment processing fee:
- U.S. transactions: 2.9% + $0.30 deducted from the refund.
- International transactions: Fees may vary, so the refund amount will differ accordingly.
⚠️ No refunds are issued for same-day cancellations or no-shows.
If you cancel through Calendly, refunds are not automatic—please email media@tsangslaw.com to request one. To avoid fees, we encourage rescheduling instead of canceling.
What is the difference between paying for a consultation and hiring you?
Paying for a legal consultation is like having an insightful coffee chat—we’ll answer your questions and provide our best advice based on what you tell us. Sometimes, that’s all you need. When you hire us, you get all the bells and whistles: an attorney-client relationship, the safety net of malpractice insurance, and a host of other privileges. Plus, you get our entire team working on your case, not just teaching you how to do it yourself.
